about

I wrote this song back in late 2012 but was not happy with the final mix I created. After sharing it with a couple of friends to get advice, I decided to shelve it for a while and come back with fresh eyes.

After eventually returning to it again in June 2014 I decided to replace a few parts, so this version has new bass, rhythm guitar, verse vocals, chorus harmonies and the feedback note was a do-over also.

Instruments used include my Fender Pawnshop 51, Epiphone Les Paul Ultra III, Ibanez S-series and Peavey 5 string bass.

lyrics

I got your message and I couldn't believe it
How somebody so beloved could lay me so low
And I'm standing in the rain with my suitcase in my hand
Full of all my broken dreams, and all your broken promises

I've got to, got to move on
I've got to, got to move on

In the beginning you made the heavens and the earth sing for me
Yeah, you let there be light and you brought me to life
But you took that all away - now that you're gone
Took my house and my car and friends and my self respect
And all you left me with was this goddamn tattoo

I've got to, got to move on
I've got to, got to move on
